Obituary for Betty Anne Camerer, Age 90
Our loving Mother, Grandmother and Friend passed away peace fully on November 3rd, 2014 at Summitview Hillcrest Facility.
She was born in El Dorado, Kansas on January 14, 1924 to George and Carmen Merrifield. Her life story reads like the novel “Grapes of Wrath.” In the early 30’s her family moved to Washington state in hopes of a better life, settling in the Yakima Valley. Good move.
She began her married life with Ervin W. Camerer on July 3, 1941. Together they were a strong team running our fruit ranch in the upper valley for over 30 years. She was a very efficient business women. Mom was very active in the Fruitvale Grange and The Agricultural Museum of Central Washington.
She had a very strong commitment to our family teaching us the skills of living a good life. Her compassion for people was phenomenal. She was always willing to help you make your life better. She taught the joy of cooking, how to sew, decorating with nothing and making something out of a weed or pile of sticks. She was truly an artist.
A quote we found in the Bible she had written states “There are great persons who make people feel small. But the really great person is the one who makes every person feel great and has something to contribute.
She is survived by three daughters, Gwen and David of Outlook WA, Kathy & Joe Ruckemesser of Duncan, BC, Canada and Gaye & Paul McCarthy of Yakima WA and many grandchildren and great children. Close relatives and friends. We will always have fond memories of dinners, trips, camping and our family get together’s.
A private family graveside internment will officiated by Pastor Eric Anderson, on Saturday, November 8, 2014 at 11:30am at the Terrace Heights Memorial Park. A Celebration of Life will be held in the spring of 2015.
