Bette Ann Rowe, age 68, passed away the morning of Monday, September 19th, 2016 at her home in Zillah, Washington. She was born in Toppenish, WA on August 18th, 1948 to Paul and Geraldine Schacht and grew up in Zillah, WA. After graduating from Zillah High School in 1966, Bette Ann achieved her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education at Grace College in Winona Lake, Indiana. She had been a devoted teacher of 2nd to 4th grades for 31 years, working in both Goldendale and Toppenish School Districts, in which during that time she obtained her Master of Education in Professional Development from Heritage College in Toppenish, WA and the National Board Master Education Teacher’s Certification. Her classroom was her sanctuary. She loved and cared for her students, and radiated joy and brought smiles to her fellow teachers and colleagues she worked with through the years. She recently retired in the summer of 2015.
She is survived by her husband, Ronald. Bette Ann and Ronald married at Grace Brethren Church in Toppenish, WA on July 28th of 1972 and have never left each other’s side in the 44 years of being together. They lived in Goldendale, WA from 1972 to 1988, before finally moving to Zillah, WA. She is also survived by her two children, Jen and Tad (and his wife, Heather), along with her young grandchildren, Brooklyn and Emersyn.
Bette Ann loved the beach, mountains, and animals, loved watching and supporting her husband, Ron, coach high school basketball, cherished watching her children grow and play their sports, and loved her family immeasurably, especially her grandchildren. Bette Ann is further survived by her immediate family, and many uncles and aunts, nieces and nephews, extended family, and friends. Bette Ann had a loving, tender spirit and we will always remember her in our hearts.
