Bernice K Mason, age 82, passed away peacefully on April 5, 2019, at the Landmark Care Facility in Yakima. Bernice was born April 30, 1936 in Culbertson, Montana to Jacob and Millie Green. The family moved to Toppenish, WA when she was at an early age. Her parents bought a home in Toppenish and that is where she was raised along with her brother Harold and sister Charlotte. They lived there until she got married.
Bernice graduated with the class of 1954 from Toppenish High School. She later attended Yakima Business School. Bernice worked for Boeing for a couple of years when she lived in Tacoma. Upon returning to Toppenish she worked for Toppenish Memorial Hospital.
In 1955 Bernice married Clarence Douglas Williams and had 4 children, Victoria, Randall, Steven, and Cindy. They divorced and soon after Bernice found the love of her life John A Mason. Together they raised a family of 8 children. Bernice enjoyed being with her family and friends and especially her good friend Eleanor Clark. Bernice and Ellie became friends early in life and remained close for 70 years. Bernice liked to go camping at Mardon Resort with all the family and friends. Bernice loved music and liked to dance and sing at the American legion Post 50 where she and her husband were members.
Bernice is survived by her children Victoria Haubrich and her husband Greg of Yakima, Randall D Williams and his wife Janet of Prosser, Steven J Williams and wife Connie of Yakima and Cynthia Bachmeier and husband Greg of Wapato; grandchildren Nicholas and Nicole Halvorson, Curtis Williams, Kaylynn Martin, Chris, Jeremy, Brandon, Ryan Williams, Terry Laws, Traci Stout, Rena Leonard and 11 great-grandchildren.
Bernice is preceded in death by her parents Jacob and Millie Green, sister Charlotte Kramer and brother Harold Green. Visitation will be Friday, April 19, 2019 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at Valley Hills Funeral Home, 607 2nd Avenue, Zillah, WA. Services will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2019 at 1:00 PM at Valley Hills Funeral Home in Zillah followed by a reception at the Eagles in Toppenish.
