Bernard A. (Bud) Magers May 13,1927- July 28,2017 He was born in Ellensburg Washington where he attended school until he entered the service of his country in World War II. Upon discharge he attended Central Washington State College where he receive his degree in Industrial Arts. He met his one and only love Jeanette Tully while there. They married on June 11 1950. They moved to Yakima shortly thereafter where he entered farming with his father in law Clarence Tully. He raised apples, cattle and crab apples. He and his wife purchased the business and they owned it until retirement. Among his various activities Bud was a Junior Chamber of Commerce International Senator, one of the first elected in the State, a present officer in the Nob Hill Grange and a former officer in the PTA. He and a group of friends and businessmen were instrumental in starting the PONY and COLT League in Yakima in the 60’s and 70’s so their sons had an organized ball program. He was an avid supporter and fan of Upper Valley Legion baseball when his son played and a supporter and fan of Men’s Fast Pitch softball. He and his wife spent many years traveling following their son’s team. In later years he and Jeanette enjoyed traveling to various places in their trailer. They especially enjoyed Lake Easton. He was an avid fisherman and liked to take their boat to Sun Lakes and Rimrock during the summer. He is survived by his wife of 67 years Jeanette; one son Tom and wife Billie (Yakima); grandson Thomas and wife Yi(Redmond); granddaughter and caregiver Kim Muir (Yakima); grandsons: Sean Muir and wife Crystal(Yakima), Eric and wife Terri Beernink(Tieton) and Jim and wife Ruthie Berrell(Salem); and numerous great grandchildren. He will be missed by all for his smile and wisdom. We all hope you are catching all the fish you can in heaven. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
