Bernadette Marie Conklin
2/11/45 - 5/22/26
Bernadette Marie (Charvet) Conklin was
called home to Heaven on May 22nd 2026,
at the age of 81, after years of struggling
with kidney disease.
Bernadette was a lifelong resident of
Grandview and a member of Blessed
Sacrament Catholic Church.
Born in Tacoma, Bernadette and her twin
sister (Faye) were adopted by Francis and
Edward (Ed) Charvet.
Bernadette (Faye) attended one year at St.
Ignatius Catholic School in Moscow ,
Idaho until returning home , completing her
schooling and graduation from Grandview
High school in 1963.
After graduating from high school she
worked as a CNA at Hillcrest Nursing
Home.
Bernadette married her sweetheart, Robert
Conklin in 1968; Where they lived in
Bothell, WA . After a year they returned to
Grandview , WA and resided for the
remainder of her life.
She was very close to her family , and they
resided two houses down from where she
grew up on Chase Road.
Here they raised three children: (Brenda,
Robert, and Andrew) .
In 1992, they opened an adult family home
and cared for many residents, loving them
as if they were her own, always in prayer
and dedicated service.
Her compassion was known throughout
the local community. People would often
request her to provide care for them in
their homes and she did willingly with
kindness and love.
Bernadette returned to Hillcrest, roughly 20
years later, as their activity director. She
loved working with the residents and at
times took her grandchildren with her to lift
residents spirits and share the joy of a
young child.
Through this action with her grandchildren
she instilled a valuable lesson: in faith,
love, service and compassion towards
others.
This lesson reflects in their lives today.
Her faith in the Lord and her kind heart
enabled her to remain steadfast in her
mission to help others.
She is preceded in death by her husband
Robert Conklin, brother-in-law, Robert
Weddle, nephew, Eric Weddle, parents Ed
and Francis Charvet and brother Mike
Charvet and his wife Dee.
She is survived by her three children,
Brenda (Sonya), Robert (Lyz)and
Andrew(Sunee) Conklin, her twin sister
Faye Weddle, brother and sister in law
James and Sharon Charvet, grandchildren
Andraya (Andrew), Jacob, BryAnna (Alex),
Joshua, Kaylee, Maddox, great
grandchildren Hudson Johnson (7),
Adelyne Galvan (5) and Benjamin
Galvan(1) as well as numerous nieces,
nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Plus many special friends.
All who knew her loved her. She always
had a kind word, a big hug, and a prayer for
you. If you needed to talk she was an ear
to listen. If you wanted advice , she would
offer it and would always include a talk to
God.
Bernadette's greatest love was her family
and her Catholic Faith. Her faith remained
strong through her many physical trials on
earth until she was called home.
Bernadette enjoyed spending time with her
grandchildren and great grandchildren, she
loved traveling to visit families in
Snohomish , Lake Stevens, Olympia and
Beaverton until it became too hard for her
to travel.
She loved having her grandchildren and
great grandchildren visit and would make
sure to have: her candy dish full, books to
read and puzzles to play with.
She loved her children and held them in her
heart, but her grandchildren and great-
grandchildren brought her even greater joy.
Treasured memories and moments shared
uniquely and individual.
She prayed daily for us all to have a
meaningful and personal relationship with
Jesus: as well as all of us with each other.
Thank you to her physicians and friends in
prayer. Also to her Palliative care team,
AVCC, Sandra , her home care aide, and
Hospice, for all the help in navigating her
healthcare and providing the ability for her
to live her life and remain in comfort of her
home.
The family expresses their gratitude to
Bob and Lyz Conklin for their dedicated
loving care of Bernadette for many many
years.
Bernadette's celebration of life Mass will
be held at Blessed Sacrament , Catholic
Church in Grandview, WA August 7,2026 at
11 AM.
