BARBARA MAE TRABANT
Barbara M. Trabant passed away Tuesday, April 18, 2017 in Yakima, WA.
Barbara was born December 11, 1923 in Yakima to Everett & Edna (Hardison) Hilton, pioneers of the Yakima Valley. She spent her early years on the family farm and attended school at East Parker School. In 1934 the family moved to Long Beach, California.
On September 12, 1943 she married her high school sweetheart and love of her life Daniel C. Trabant. They were married for 65 years.
After Dan retired they returned to the Yakima Valley and in 1970 purchased an orchard in the Parker Heights/Buena area where she happily resided until January 2017. During this time many memories and traditions were established and special memories of the time spent at “The Ranch” were made. Holidays were always a special time and will be forever remembered.
Barbara was always a very prim & proper lady, a meticulous homemaker and a gracious hostess. She was an amazing cook and loved to bake. Her carrot cake, snickerdoodle cookies, coffee cake and pies were always a prize possession to those who received them.
She was a Master Gardener and loved working in her yard, especially potted flowers. She could spend a whole day at the nursery and never have enough. She loved nature, all animals, especially birds and had a covey of fat quail she fed and a live video camera to watch the Kestrel nest.
Barbara was active in her church, Parker Heights Presbyterian Church and served as Deaconess. She set the legacy of monthly decorating of the Fellowship Hall. She treasured her special friends and the relationship she had with her church family.
Barbara is survived by her sister Doris Thomas, nieces and nephew Patricia Garoutte, Penni (Dave) Guarin, Ken (DeeDee) Thomas, Donna (Bob) Brown as well as numerous great nieces and nephews.
A brief graveside service reuniting Dan & Barbara will be held Saturday, May 6th at 11:00 a.m. at Tahoma Cemetery followed by a Celebration of Life and dinner at Parker Heights Presbyterian Church at 12:30.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made either to Parker Heights Presbyterian Church or North Star Lodge.
The family wishes to express a special thank you to the staff and “Kids” at Fieldstone Orchard West for the love, compassion and care they extended to Barbara during her time with them. To her special church family for always being there for her and to Memorial Home Health and Hospice/Cottage in the Meadow.
