Barbara Leduc

April 11, 1933 — November 18, 2016

Our beautiful fun loving wife, mother, grandmother & great grandmother entered into eternal rest on November 18, 2016. Barbara Jane “Barb” LeDuc, daughter of the late Robert Boyd and Jean Roberts Boyd was born April 11, 1933 in Santa Rosa, California. As a young teen, her family moved to the Yakima Valley & she attended Washington Middle School. Her family owned and operated the Tick Tock Café and then later Jean’s Cottage Inn in Union Gap. Barb spent many hours working for her parents at the family restaurant as a teenager. Barb met the love of her life – Clifford Franklin LeDuc in grade school and they both attended Yakima High School. She graduated in 1951. Cliff and Barb were married July 21, 1951 in Fort Bliss, Texas. Their wedding flowers arrived after the ceremony & they had a mini reception NCO club with friends. After Cliff’s time in the Army, they settled in Yakima, Washington. They welcomed three children into their lives – Ronald, Linda, and Sharon. They owned & operated Cliff’s Meats in Yakima & later moved the business to Naches, Washington. They enjoyed countless hours snowmobiling, boating, water skiing & having fun with their children & friends outdoors. They lost daughter Sharon to a tragic accident in 1971, at the age of eleven. This was a very difficult time. Barb loved to entertain friends & family at holidays. She worked side-by-side with Cliff in the meat shop for over 25 years until 1986 when they moved to Gig Harbor, Washington. Barb loved fishing & boating in the San Juan Islands. They were members of the Fox Island Yacht Club. Barb worked at Borgan’s Lumber, in Gig Harbor until 1996. Barb was a strong, hardworking, determined woman. She could light up a room with her smile. She was adventurous & even parasailed on a vacation in Mexico. She suffered a stroke in 1996 & faced many challenges with grace and determination. Together they continued to travel in their motorhome. Barb loved to go to the beach. Barb and Cliff celebrated 65 years of marriage this past summer. Her beautiful life will forever be cherished by family & close friends. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Clifford LeDuc, as well as, her daughter Linda Hughes, and husband Dan, of Selah, Washington. Her granddaughters Andrea Mueller, and husband Damon; Jamie Clark, and husband Matt, both of Yakima, Washington. Her grandson Daniel Hughes, and wife Kim of Chewelah, Washington. Her great grandchildren include Nicholas, Dylan & Grace Mueller, Madelynn & Kennedy Clark, and Jameson & Jackson Hughes. She is also survived by her brother Ronald Boyd and wife Betty of Union Gap, Washington, numerous nieces and nephews. Barb was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Marilyn Boyd, daughter Sharon LeDuc and son Ronald LeDuc. Barb has lived the last few years at Landmark Care Facility in Yakima. Cliff would visit her daily & often they could be seen having breakfast at Powerhouse Grill. Her family would like to thank the staff & providers at Landmark, Cottage in the Meadow and a special ‘thank you’ to Dr. Katina Rue of Family Medicine for her care & compassion over the last 10 years. There will be an “Eat Dessert First” celebration of life at Broadmoor Park Club House, 55 West Washington Ave, Yakima on December 3, 2016 from 11-2pm.
