Avis Onvia Welsh was welcomed home into the arms of her Savior on September 27, 2013. Avis was born October 4, 1934, in Batesville, Arkansas to Clarence C. and Edith Mae Kelley. She was the first of four children. Her early years were spent in Arkansas and Washington State. It was in her late teens in Olympia, Washington that Avis met the man of her dreams, Dale E. Welsh. They were married in 1953, and for 55 years their love for each other was constant and abiding. Dale passed away in 2009. Dale and Avis were blessed with five children and raised them in a love-filled home. Avis adored her family and loved to gather everyone together to play music and sing old gospel and blue grass songs, or just play games. She was very proud of her family. Avis was a woman of grace and sweetness. Her quiet strength was drawn from her unwavering faith in Jesus. For all things she went to the Lord in prayer and he was always faithful to answer. She will be missed more than words can say, but we are still able to rejoice knowing that she is with Dad in Heaven. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Dale. She is survived by: brother Bill, brother Ken (Karen), sister Patti (Todd), son Dana (Jani), son Kelley (Diana), son Cory (Maria), daughter Gail (John), daughter Shannon (Howie); seven grandchildren: Paige, Emilie, Katie, Korina, George, Kelley, Wesley, and one great-granddaughter, Kylie.
A memorial service will be held October 12, 2013, at 1:00 PM at Trinity Church of the Nazarene. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Valley Hills Funeral Home.
