Antonio Patricio Alvarez of Wapato passed away on November 23, 2020, at Memorial Hospital in Yakima. Antonio (known to his friends and family as Tony Lony or Big T) was born on March 29, 1967, to Francisco and Louise Alvarez in Harrington, Nevada.
His parents and Tony moved to Wapato at an early age. Allowing Tony to be raised along with his aunts, uncles and cousins. Tony was a big hearted person always willing to help out especially if it involved a family member. Tony graduated from Wapato High School in 1985. He then attended HVAC training in Phoenix, Arizona. He pursued his occupation in several areas namely in San Diego and the Yakima Valley.
Tony was an avid golfer and bowler. He enjoyed a round of golf with his uncle Jackie and cousins Pat and Chuy Farias. They played as a team for several years in the Mayan Open golf tournament. He also was a well known bowler especially in the Eagles State Tournament. One of his favorite highlights was attending Mardi Gras with his aunt Ofilya.
Tony was preceded in death by his parents Francisco and Louise, as well as his uncle Mario Valdez, aunt Stevie Valdez, and his grandparents Arnulfo and Aurora Valdez and cousin Valentina.
Tony is survived by his sister, Elizabeth Martinez of Wapato, nephews, Aaron Martinez of Tri Cities, Michael Martinez of Wapato, and Israel Martinez of Seattle, numerous aunts and uncles including Arnulfo Valdez Jr, Clyde, and Jackie Valdez, and Jesse Farias all of Wapato, Aunts Tony Farias of Yakima, Rosemary Estrada of Seattle, Carmen Segrove of Bellingham, Juanita Valdez of Yakima and Dolores Capitillo of Toppenish, Anne Farias of Wapato, Ofilya McConville as well as numerous cousins.
Funeral services for Tony will be at noon on Friday, November 27, 2020, with viewing immediately following until three at Valley Hills Funeral Home in Wapato. Reverend Jesse Farias of Puyallup officiating.
