Angelina Ortiz

July 2, 1927 — January 6, 2014

Our loving Mother and Grandmother Angelina T. Ortiz presented herself at Heavens gates to be accepted into Gods Holy Kingdom on January 6, 2014. A Consummate mother, grandmother, homemaker, and hard worker, Angelina provided a permanent home for her family. Angelina was an excellent cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends. Angelina had an unwavering faith in God and was a member of St Josephs Catholic Church in Sunnyside. Prior to her extended illness Angelina was very active in the Church and was a member of the church choir and church groups. One of Angelina’s proudest accomplishments in life was becoming a United States Citizen on November 6, 1997. Angelina was predeceased by her husband, Jesus Ortiz, on May 16, 2010. They were married 64 years. She was also predeceased by two sons, Antonio Ortiz and Rudy Ortiz; one grandson and two granddaughters. Angelina is survived by her nine children, Lupe Richardson, Rosie Couturier-Ortiz, Larry Ortiz, Olivia(Jessie) Cruz, Rene Ortiz, Margaret Murray, Michael(Maryann) Ortiz, Ilda Robles, Jaime Ortiz, 32 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. The family would like to recognize her grandson Jesse Cruz from Houston, Texas for never forgetting about his grandma, for always calling to ask how she was and coming to see her several times throughout the year and for making sure no stone was left unturned and all was taken care of before he left for being her protector. She loved you so very much. Thank you to her granddaughter Michelle Ortiz for spending time with grandma, making cookies and keeping her smiling. The family will receive friends and family on Thursday, January 9, 2014 from 4-8pm with recitation of the rosary at 6:30 pm at Valley Hills Funeral Home in Sunnyside. Refreshments will be served after the rosary. Mass of Christian Burial will be held to celebrate her life on Friday, January 10, 2014 at 11:00 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sunnyside.
