Andrew Mcclelland

September 1, 1953 — February 7, 2020

Andrew F. McClelland was born on September 1, 1953 in Vallejo, California to his parents James and Helen McClelland. Andrew passed away on February 7, 2020 at 6:20 am in Yakima, Washington. He died of prostate and bone cancer. He leaves behind his wife, Zenita McClelland; his two sisters, Trysha Weltch and Judy McClelland; his four nieces Audrey Donald, Turina McClelland, Vannessa McClelland and Wendy Housler; and his nephew, Christopher Angvick. He also leaves an extended family in the Philippines and here in America. He had the opportunity to travel the world on mission trips. He visited Kenya, Africa in his high school years. He later visited Honduras in 2004 with David Arbour. They spent the first week at LaZona Outpost, a small health clinic/mission in the mountains near Santa Barbara. They took advantage of the second week by traveling around the country sightseeing and of course, birdwatching. Andy began his college years at Union College, then graduated from South West College in Keene, Texas with a degree in Theology. He pastored a few churches in Texas. He ended his pastoral ministry and became a craftsman. Andy was a man with many talents and interests. He worked as a carpenter for over 15 years, and as a window washer for 7 years in different areas of the Western Part of the United States. He was as an avid reader, his favorite types of books to read were spiritual and historical. His favorite book was the Bible, which he read many times. He loved making people laugh with his jokes, his clean jokes. Everyone who knew Andy knew he had a passion for birdwatching and hiking. He was very knowledgeable in different bird species, the ones common to many and even ones most people are unaware of. Not only did he enjoy birds, he had an appreciation for any animals he came across on his many excursions. His favorite thing to do of all was hiking, especially with his wife, Zenita. They visited many places like Mount Rainier, Mount Si, and the Multnomah Falls; just to name a few. Andy and Zenita grew in their relationship with each other and God through these hiking experiences. He was her best friend and the love of her life. Andy’s latest passion was praying for others. He shared with them the love of God that he was reminded of and experienced several times even through his suffering. He kept Psalm 23 and 91 close to his heart and reminded him of what God has prepared for him. Zenita and Andy are thankful to everyone for all they have done for them in these years. For all the visits, help, and especially the prayers. They never went unnoticed. Andy will be greatly missed.
