Anatolio Castro Sanchez, age 88, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 21, 2016 at his home in Grandview. Anatolio was born in La Barranca, Jalisco in Mexico on November 16, 1927. He grew up as a farmer and learned how to live off the land. He met his future wife, Clementina, when he was 27 years old. He would send her love notes and was determined to make her his wife, even though her family disapproved because of their age difference. She followed him to the next town over and they married that year in 1954.
Anatolio eventually made his way to the United States, working in the fields and orchards and would send money to his family in Mexico for many years. He finally saved enough to buy their house in Grandview and together they raised their 7 children. He wanted his own land to farm and so he bought hundreds of acres in Baja California just 45 minutes away from a small town named Rosario. He spent the rest of his years harvesting corn, wheat, beans, and raising cattle while Clementina maintained the household. Their children and grandchildren would come visit over the years and help too. He spent more time in his house in Grandview as his health declined and his final moments were in that house surrounded by family.
He is survived by his wife, Clementina Sanchez, his 5 sons; Victor (Yolanda) Sanchez, Claudio (Judy) Sanchez, Roberto Sanchez, Alfredo (Carmen) Sanchez, Jose Luis Sanchez; his 2 daughters; Patricia (Ramon) Vera and Maribel (Andres) Cuevas; 28 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and one on the way.
