Alice Ames

December 25, 1923 — April 8, 2018

Alice Ames, 94 of Wapato, WA, passed away on Sunday April 8, 2018. Alice was born on December 25, 1923 in Stone County, Missouri to William and Dillie LaFollette. She was one of 14 children. Alice loved her family very much, and at the age of 19 she decided to start her own. She married Lawrence Ames on July 13, 1942. They loved creating family adventures. It was common for them to spontaneously pack up their bags and head out the driveway to travel and camp where ever the road would take them. Alice’s greatest joy was being with her family. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters, but her favorite was her “Robert.” Even in the later stages of Alzheimer’s she still knew how important he was to her. Their morning breakfast visits at Emerald Care were special to both of them. She is survived by her son Robert and wife Jean Ames of Wapato, 3 grandchildren, Rick (Cindie) Ames of Wapato, Denny (Amy) Ames of Wapato, and Robin (Bobby) Cordova of Wapato, 9 great grandchildren, 12 great-great grandchildren, her sister Nita Overacker, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Lawrence Ames, son Alfred Ames, and great granddaughter Hannah Cordova. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, April 14, 2018 at Reservation Memorial Park west of Wapato. Folks wishing to attend can meet at the cemetery. A potluck will follow. A special thank you to Emerald Care Nursing home for their care and support. To order memorial trees or send flowers to the family in memory of Alice Ames, please visit our flower store.
