Alex Sinner

Alex Martin Sinner, 96, of Yakima, Wa, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, on Monday, March 17, 2014, while residing at Summitview Healthcare Yakima. Born December 5, 1917 in Sutton, Nebraska, he moved to Washington with his parents and siblings from Greeley Colorado in 1934. Alex met his beautiful bride Opal Getsinger at a dance and they fell in love immediately. They were married May 12, 1940 in Wapato and enjoyed 72 years of marriage before Opal passed in 2013. The Alex Sinner family lived in Wapato, Granger, Sunnyside and Yakima over the years. His many successful careers included farmer, blacksmith, entrepreneur, inventor, realtor, consultant and author. He owned and operated Sinner Mfg. & Eng. in Sunnyside for 43 years, and was a realtor for Heritage Brokers Yakima during retirement. Alex had a Christian spirit and love for God that touched the lives of everyone he met. He enjoyed writing his autobiography, researching family history, gardening, hunting and snowmobiling. Alex was preceded in death by his beloved wife Opal; his parents, Henry & Amalia (Kahm) Sinner, son Marvin Sinner, granddaughter Lora Sinner; siblings, Ezera Sinner (infant), Edward Sinner, Daniel Sinner, Lillian Hines, Ruth Miriam Doyle, Esther Rockwell Survivors include his children, Marilyn O’Shea (Ken) of Wenatchee, Sylvia Grossman of Spokane, Ben Sinner (Sharon) of Walla Walla, Ken Sinner of Spokane, Elsie Kushner (Mark) of Yakima, 3 siblings, Rueben Sinner of Granger, Lydia Sinner Brazeal of Apache Junction AZ, & Naomi Sinner Mathews of East Wenatchee and 15 grandchildren, and numerous great and great-great grandchildren. Many sincere thanks to the wonderful staff of Summitview Healthcare Center for their “loving care” of Alex and Opal. Funeral services will be at Valley Hills Funeral Chapel, 2600 Business Lane, Terrace Heights followed by burial at Terrace Heights Memorial Park on Wednesday, March 26, 2014, at 1:00 pm (viewing at 12:30).
