Alex Keegan, “Cha-Chi” Daily’s, adventurous life came to a sudden end October 6th, 2014. He was 15.
He was born June 8th, 1999 at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital, to Brent and Laura Daily. Alex was a student at Naches Valley High school and had attended Naches schools from Kindergarten on. As a result, he had many close friends.
Throughout his childhood, Alex played soccer. He most recently played for Naches High School, where he lettered his freshman year. His wish for his senior year was to attend a Manchester United match in England. Alex also loved skateboarding. He spent many afternoons longboarding with his close friends. In winter, he enjoyed snowboarding at White Pass. Alex recently wrote an essay for English class explaining how his time boarding was what made him feel most at peace.
Alex also demonstrated his talent as a musician. Alex started band in the 5th grade. He initially started with the Clarinet. He then switched to the saxophone (“a more manly instrument”). Alex was truly inspired by his band teacher Jeremy Freisz. Jeremy encouraged Alex to join the Columbians, a drum and bugle corps out of the Tri-Cities. Because there are no woodwinds in a drum corps, Alex learned to play the Mellophone. Discovering that he enjoyed drum corps, he joined The Oregon Crusaders from Portland Oregon. In order to be accepted into the Oregon Crusaders, Alex had to learn to play the trumpet. Alex did just that, revealing another hidden talent. He spent last summer touring all over the country with the Crusaders, ending with a performance at Lucas Oil Stadium (home of the Indianapolis Colts). He was very proud of that performance and being part of both the Columbians and Oregon Crusaders. After returning in August, Alex then began learning the French horn. At home, he began to add the piano and guitar to his growing list of musical instruments he played. Alex loved music. There was no genre he did not have a favorite song he could tell you about.
Alex is survived by his parents Laura and Brent of Naches; his brother Nathan.
Alex has numerous friends locally and since participating in drum corps his group of friends extends across the country. The number of people he touched are countless. Alex blended into many groups of people. His facebook reflects that no matter who he encountered, his kind heart and infectious smile impacted all.
Celebration of Alex’s life will be held at Lower Naches Grange at 1pm Saturday, October 11, 2014. Valley Hills Funeral Home in Yakima is in care of the arrangements. Online tributes can be shared at www.valleyhillsfh.com.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider donations to The Columbians Drum and Bugle Corps, so that they may continue to offer the wonderful experience of drum corps to others.
