Alberto (Albert) Perez, 82, of Sunnyside, WA passed away on Friday May 2, 2025. He was born on July 4, 1942 in Elsa, TX. He was the son of Pedro and Maria Inez (Lopez) Perez.
Shortly after his birth, the Perez family moved to Washington State. The family bought a twenty acre farm on Ray Rd. Sunnyside, Washington and spent their time working asparagus. Alberto received his education in Sunnyside, where his favorite teacher was Ms. Lumsden. As the seventh child, he got up to many adventures, and found great joy in spending time with his immediate and extended family. Albert got married and had his only daughter in 1963. He loved her dearly and gave her everything.
He loved playing cards with his dad and brothers, playing pool, spending time with his nieces and nephews, camping, fishing, and watching cowboy films; he also loved listening to Elvis, Buddy Holly, Country/Western, and Mexican/Mariachi music.
He began his career working as a fieldworker at a very young age. He quickly decided that driving the tractor would be better, so he finagled his way into tractor driving. He then worked his way up to being a carpenter’s hand, followed by working construction with his good friend and boss Bill Hans. At one time, he wound up building power lines in Montana. He made his way from being a child in the fields, to operating a trackhoe over the Mighty Rocky Mountains. Ultimately, he finished his work at Simplot in Othello.
Alberto is preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Lupe Guzman (Paco), Maria Luisa Lopez (Luis), Pat Perez; and three brothers, Manuel Perez (Alice), Pedro "Pete" Perez Jr. (Mary), and Joe Perez (Janie).
Alberto is survived by one sister, Minnie Ramirez (Gilbert) of Yakima; and one brother, Ray Perez (Liz) of Grandview. He is also survived by his beloved daughter, Rosie Kranz (Ted) of Sunnyside; three grandchildren in Sunnyside, Daniele Jolie Kranz (Daniel), Jacqueline Marie Espinoza (Nathan), and John Lee Perez Kranz (Emma); his great-granddaughter, Daphne Jolie Kranz; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He will be greatly missed by all of us.
