THEODORE T. WALSEY SR “ K’astilá ” - 58 years old passed away surrounded by family May 17th, 2022, at Yakima Memorial hospital. He was born January 23rd, 1964, in Toppenish Washington, the son of Richard Walsey Sr. (Betty Gould) and Anita Totus Walsey. In his younger years Theodore was a well know amateur boxer, starting off with the Yakama Nation Boxing club before moving to the Scooter Meza boxing club in Granger Washington, where he traveled all over the Pacific Northwest with his brothers who became known as “The Walsey Boys” and “Totus Boys”. Theodore earned his GED from Washington State University HEP in Pullman Washington. He than continued his education by attending Artesia Police Academy Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Artesia New Mexico. He came home and was a dedicated Game Warden and Tribal Police officer for the Yakama Nation for over 14 years. Theodore maintained his connection with the Yakama Nation working at Yakama Nation Forest Products and was currently serving as a member on the Yakama Nation Code of Ethics Board. Theodore was active with his Native American Culture. He traveled throughout the United States and Canada as one of the Lead singers of the Eagle Spirit Drum Group. He also sang and became Brothers with other singers such as Stoney Park, Indian Nation, Red Bull, White Swan Intertribal, High Noon, Left Hand Singers, and Blackstone. He was a Champion in his own right as a Fancy Dancer, Round Bustle dancer and war bonnet dancer. He was a singer on the drum line of the Washuut faith, a singer of the Wampt Ceremonies. He was teacher, mentor and supporter of all those who wanted to learn and continue the traditions. Theodore is survived by his loving wife, Sarah (Dave) Walsey; Children son Theodore Walsey Jr and Wife Shanea from The Dalles Oregon, son Wesley Walsey companion Amanda Miller granddaughter Anita Grace from The Dalles Oregon, daughter Monica Walsey grandson DeAngelo from Wapato, daughter Ashley Walsey companion Nick Reyes grandchildren Darius and Hope from Wapato, daughter Ruby Grace and gained son Roger (mother Rebecca Mills) of Harrah, daughters Tatyana “Totz”, Scarlett and Erica sons Tristen, Tyrone and James (Mother Sarah) of Wapato. Brothers Ronnie wife Edith Walsey from Wapato, Reggie wife Zelma Walsey from Toppenish, and Richard Walsey Jr (Jay) from Satus, sister Cece husband Rod Begay from Satus, Sister Donna Wesley Sampson husband George from Wapato. Numerous nieces, nephews and gained children throughout the powwow trail. Guiding his journey are his parents Richard Walsey Sr. and Anita Totus Walsey, Paternal Grandparents James Hoody Walsey and Gladys Polk Walsey, Maternal Grandparents Watson and Tilda Totus, Virgil Hunt Sr. bothers Levi “Racoon” Walsey, Franklin Walsey, Buffy Shanta, Tim White Eyes, Joseph (Joe) Totus, and Rodney Totus Sisters Lilian Walsey and Virgilena Walsey. Services for Theodore will start Wednesday May 18th at 9am where he will be transported from the Wapato funeral home to the Satus Longhouse where Dressing Services will start at 10am. Dinner at 5pm followed by Opening denomination. Overnight services will start at 7pm and officiated by Thomas MorningOwl, Damien Totus, and Jerry Meninick. We will than leave Satus Longhouse Thursday 6am for Burial at Foster Point Cemetery. Commencing back to Satus Longhouse for meal and giveaway.
