Norma Jean Barthel
|
 |
|
YAKIMA - Norma Jean Barthel, 63 of Yakima - passed away November 30, 2007 at home peacefully surrounded by her family following a brief battle with cancer.
After several months of tender loving care from her family members and close friends, the pain of her passing is lessened by our belief that she is resting quietly with our Heavenly Father.
Norma was born April 5, 1944 in Butte, Montana. She was the fourth child of Peter and Vera Peterson. Norma spent her first two years of grade school in Butte, then the family moved to Silver Star, Montana. She attended the next 10 years of school in Twin Bridges, Montana, graduating in 1962 from Twin Bridges High School.
Norma met Lenard Barthel in 1974, they then married in 1975. The blessed union began with Norma's daughters and Lenard's two children David and Annette. She worked at Payless Drug Store in Union Gap for several years. She loved her job because of the precious friends she made there. She then remained a homemaker until the children were grown. And then she deceided she wanted to work at Wal-Mart in the deli, where she again made precious friends.
The weekends were filled with jeeping, sand dirt track racing at Tampico, with the truck that Lenard built, Might Mouse. When Norma raced, she never lost. Our family was also involved in car racing at Yakima Speedway. We had many laughs, scares and fond memories with family and cars. Between Lenard and Mom there were always BBQ's and parties at the house, because their house was filled with love, joy and laughter.
Norma is preceded in death by her parents Vera and Pete Peterson and her brother Marland Peterson.
Norma will always remain in the hearts of her loving and caring husband, Lenard Barthel. Her daughters Kim Lewis (Donnie McLoud), Moxee, Amber Hardy (Steve Hardy), South Carolina. David Barthel(Denise Barthel) and Annette Washington, all of Yakima. Her beautiful grandchildren, Jordan Lewis, London Lewis, Scotty St. John, Cameron Hardy, Matthew Hardy, Zack Washington and Josh Washington. Also joining are two great-grandchildren, Jaiden and Jorden. And her special little sweetheart Cami Anderson, along with several loving nieces and nephews that have filled her heart with joy. Her sister Phyllis Musgrove (Vern Musgrove), Patricia Ferguson, Joanie Peterson, Byron and Marge Peterson.
We would like to give special thanks to Dr. David Doornick of 30 plus years of service who she loved dearly. Also Dr. Jorgenson and assistant Linda at North Star Lodge. Also special thanks to the help, guidance and peace from the local staff at Memorial Hospice - they have made these last months very comfortable for our beloved Wife, Mother, Sister, Nana, Aunt, Neighbor, and FRIEND.

Mary N. Clark
|
 |
|
YAKIMA - Early on Thanksgiving morning, we lost Mary N. Clark.
Born August 31, 1920, and a lifelong Yakima resident, she was never more alive than when she was: with cherished friends and neighbors--playing bridgedoing a crossword puzzle throwing away money at the casino--reading a bookworking at Yakima Federalknitting a sweater or afghan for someonecheering on her grandsonsspoiling her great-grandchildrensunning in Mauiemailingentertainingrooting for the Seahawks--married to Howard, the man she loved and enjoyed for over 65 years.
Always up for anything, she was never too old to try something new. She possessed a delightfully wry sense of humor, and was never above laughing at herself.
Mary taught by examplealways there with homemade soup or a meal when needed.
She was an optimist, with a positive attitude toward life...and death.
She is survived by daughter Judy (George) Fraker, son Dale (Rebecca) Clark, grandsons, Todd (Tanya), Brad, Jim and Paul Fraker, great-grandchildren Leanne, Kurt and Bret, uncle, cousins, nieces and nephews.
There will be no formal services, but an open house will be held at the Chalet Village Clubhouse, Saturday, Dec. 1st, from 2 to 4 pm. She was extremely grateful for Memorial Foundation Hospice and would appreciate donations made to them, or to a charity of your choice.
Mom, we miss you.

Martina (Acob) Colima
|
 |
|
YAKIMA - Martina (Acob) Colima passed away on Thursday November 15th at the Yakima home of her daughter, Barbara Acob, after receiving several months of tender and loving care from many family members and friends. The pain of her passing is lessened by our belief that she is now resting quietly while waiting for the quick return of her savior and Lord.
Her husband is Filiberto Hernandez Colima from Yakima. Her ex-husband, and the father of her children, is Jose G. Acob, Sr. from Yuma, Arizona.
She had three sons (Jose Acob, Jr. from Richland, Phillip Acob, and Anthony Acob both from Yakima) and two daughters (Josephine Acob-Campbell from Puerto Vallarta, Mexico and Barbara Acob from Yakima).
She had 13 brothers and sisters. Those still living are; Patrico Garcia from Longview, Louis Garcia from Mt. Vernon, and Frank Garcia from Vancouver.
She was preceded in death by her father, Placido Garcia, from Aguascalientes, Mexico; her mother, Ester Roman, from Toppenish and nine of her brothers and sisters.
Mom had a total of 12 grandchildren. Her direct descendents are: Melinda, Harvey, and Jacob Davis; and Nydesta, Leticia, Angela, Mitchell, and Madison Acob.
Mom had a total of 22 great-grandchildren. Her direct descendents are: Macaela Davis; Kamimsa, Sean, Jr., and Kwalani Goudy; and Tiauna and Kahee-loosh. Mom also had one great-great-grandchild.
Our Mother was a housewife and devoted grandmother who played an important role in raising five of her grandchildren; Melinda, Harvey, and Jacob Davis along with Mitchell and Madison Acob. Her grandchildren and family meant the world to her. She looked forward to our traditional Sunday family get-to-gethers. She received great joy from watching her "baby" Anthony play on local sports teams and from watching her grandchildren's activities. She will be remembered for her sincere loving and caring character. She thought of others before herself and instilled in her children the love that was reflected daily in her own life.
During her illness her family was referred to as the "Team Of Love", caring for her in her daughter Barbara's home as she had requested. The loving care and sacrifices given by us were the least we could do in return for the unconditional love she had always given. As a Christian it was her strong faith that brought her great comfort during her illness.
She left us with a message to take care of each other and to love one another. She will be greatly missed but her love will continue to radiate through the many lives that she touched.
Outside of our family, a special thanks to Karen Kivett, Ernie Reynolds, and Bob Hernandez for providing the extra care. Thanks to those who took the time to call or personally visit our mother and to Yakima Regional Hospice and Home Care, Dr. Ryan Moultray, the 35th Avenue Seventh Day Adventist Church family, and the Valley Hills Funeral Home.
Her last wishes for her family were to continue to have our family gatherings each Sunday, that we continue our love for each other, and that we all accept the Lord into our lives so that we can be with her in heaven when the gates of heaven are opened.
There will be two viewings for those who wish to pay their last respects. The first viewing will be will held on Monday, November 19 from 10:00 AM until 5:00 PM at Valley Hills Funeral Home at 2600 Business Lane, Yakima. The second viewing will immediately precede the funeral services and will be held on Tuesday, November 20 from noon until 12:45 at the 35th Avenue SDA Church located on 35th located at 507 North 35th Avenue in Yakima.

Our mother will begin her eternal rest with the Lord at the Reservation Cemetery in Wapato. A reception honoring the memory of our mother will be held as soon as the family returns from the cemetery. The reception will be held in the Fellowship Hall behind the church.
