Pearl Young
YAKIMA - Pearl Young, age 93, was called home to the Lord, Sat., March 29, 2008. Pearl was always known as "Sis" to her family and friends.

Pearl was born Nov. 10, 1914 in Corn, Oklahoma to Pete & Emma Zielke. She was raised and educated in western Kansas. The family moved to Yakima in 1937. On Nov. 7, 1939 she married Owen Young. They lived in Moxee all 62 years of their marriage. Pearl and Owen loved to travel and visited all 50 states and 14 countries during their marriage. They traveled every year to Kansas and Missouri to visit Owen's family. Pearl was a member of the East Valley Reformed Church. She was involved in the women's ministry and taught Sunday school. Her well-worn Bible was read through at least once every year. Pearl was also a member of the Yakima Valley Artists Society. Her paintings grace the walls of many homes around Yakima. Pearl also enjoyed quilting, sewing, and canning fruits and vegetables.

Pearl will always be remembered for her generosity, her bright clothes, and the yellow house. Although Pearl and Owen never had children of their own, they touched the lives of many. She will be missed by her many nieces and nephews. We love you, "Sissy".

She was preceded in death by her parents, Pete and Emma Zielke, her husband Owen Young, her brother Abe Zielke and by her sister Dorothy Assink. She is survived by her brother Clarence Zielke of Tacoma and by her sister Leona King of Ferndale, WA.

June Huebner
YAKIMA - June Huebner, 82, of Tieton passed away Thursday, March 27, 2008 in Yakima.

June was born Sept. 7, 1925 in Boone, NC to Gathias Alonzo and Rose (Miller) Townsend. She was raised in North Carolina, and then during WWII, June worked in Langley Field, VA as a typist for the National Advisory Council for Aeronautics.

She moved with her family to Tieton in 1947. While picking apricots that summer, she met Cliff Huebner, the orchard foreman. After a whirlwind romance, they eloped on October 30, 1947. During their 53 years of marriage they remained in Tieton and raised three children.

June was a charter member of the Tieton Baptist Church. She worked in the fruit industry as an apple packer and packing boss for over 40 years. She is remembered as a marvelous cook and a hard worker.

She is survived by a son, Clay Huebner of Kent; two daughters, Linda McCracken of Yakima and Marilyn Rose McRae of Kent; three brothers, Harold Townsend of Tennessee, and Eugene and Hugh Townsend, both of Cowiche; a sister, Sandy Gill of Yakima and two grandchildren, Maren and Ethan McRae, both of Kent.

Lloyd Joseph LaBree
MOXEE - Lloyd Joseph LaBree, 92, of Moxee, passed away Thursday, March 27, 2008 at home.

Lloyd was born Nov. 23, 1915 in Moxee to Harvey an Alma (Quesnell) LaBree. He lived his entire life in Moxee where he owned a grocery store.

He is survived by three sons, Larry LaBree of Harrisville, PA, Mark LaBree of Yakima and Greg LaBree of Moxee; a daughter, Sandra Otteson of Moxee; 10 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson.

Recitation of the Rosary will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 1, 2007 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Moxee. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 2, 2007 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Moxee. Valley Hills Funeral Home, Yakima, is in charge of cremation arrangements.
Ida Stewart
Ida Stewart, 96, of Sunnyside died Monday, March 24th.

Mrs. Stewart was born in Liberty, Kan. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include a son, Mark Stewart of Roosevelt, Wash.; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Viewing will be from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Friday, March 28 at Valley Hills Funeral Home, Sunnyside. Graveside services will follow at 1 p.m. in Lower Valley Memorial Gardens.
Frances A. Tracy
Frances A. Tracy, 75, went to be with our Heavenly Father on March 24, 2008.

Frances was born to Otto and Ida Saylor in Venturia, North Dakota, on October 24, 1932. She attended Linton High School and graduated second in her class. She then became a country school teacher in a one-room schoolhouse in James Town, where she taught all eight grades.

On March 23, 1952 she married Norman H. Tracy and they had three daughters, Vicki, Norma and Hollie. In 1961 they moved to Parker, Washington. While in Parker they built a home in Yakima, WA and shortly afterwards they moved there. Once in Yakima Frances became a lab technician. Frances was a wonderful lady; she was loved by many people, along with many of her cats.

She was preceded in death by her mother, father and her husband.

She is survived by her sister Marcie Danielson of Osceulla, WI; her brothers Lyle (Nancy) Saylor of White Salmon, WA and Monty (Rachel) Saylor of Kirkland, WA; her daughters Vicki Tracy and Norma Tracy of Yakima and Hollie Tracy of Eugene, OR; two grandchildren, Beau and Nick Hendrickson of Yakima and by her great-grandchild Austin of Yakima. She will be missed by so many and thought about every day. God bless you, Frannie.

John Francis Krieger
John Francis Krieger, 74, of Yakima passed away Saturday, March 22 in Yakima.

John was born in Cowiche, Washington and worked as a computer salesman.

He is survived by his wife, Beth Krieger of YFakima; a daughter, Jami Olivier of Charlotte, NC; a son, Joe Krieger of Yakima; a sister, Rose Anna minerich of Yakima; and two grandchildren.

At his request, there will be no services.
Jesus Aguilar
Jesus Aguilar, 72, of Yakima died Wednesday, March 19, 2008.

Mr. Aguilar was born in Michoacan, Mexico. He was a farm worker.

Survivors include his wife, Vinidita Aguilar of Yakima; a son, Rosendo Aguilar of Yakima; six daughters, Maria Jesus Chavez and Guadalupe Aguilar of California, Mireya Aguilar, Sandra Aguilar, Gabriela Aguilar and Elvia Aguilar of Yakima; four brothers, Tiodomiro Aguilar of Oregon, Salvador Aguilar, Rosendo Aguilar and Cipriano Aguilar of Mexico; five sisters, Leonor Aguilar of Oregon, Francisca Aguilar and Clara Aguilar of California, and Maria Aguilar and Rosario Aguilar of Mexico; and 14 grandchildren.

Viewing will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday, March 23 with a rosary at 6 p.m., at Valley Hills Funeral Home Chapel, Yakima. Mass of Christian burial will be at 2 p.m. Monday, March 24 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Yakima. Burial will be in Terrace Heights Memorial Park.
Felisita Ornelas
Felisita Ornelas, 72, of Granger died Tuesday, March 18 in Toppenish.

She was born in Ballenger, Texas. She lived in Granger for 28 years.

Survivors include five sons, Arthur Ornelas, Felix Ornelas, Fernando Ornelas and Robert Ornelas, all of Granger, and Frank Ornelas of Minnesota; five daughters, Mary Lou Ornelas, Laria Lorina Nunez and Estella Ornellas, all of Granger, Mary Jane Ornelas of Texas and Rose Mary Ornelas of Toppenish; three sisters, Francisca Chavez of Granger and Guadalupe Gonzalez and Margarita Mendoza, both of Wapato.

Recitation of the rosary will be at 7 p.m Sunday, March 23 at Valley Hills Funeral Home in Zillah. Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday, March 24 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Granger. Burial will follow at the Zillah City Cemetery.

Martha Jeanette Del Rio
Martha Jeanette Del Rio, 72, of Yakima died Monday at Yakima Regional Medical and Cardiac Center.

Mrs. Del Rio was born in Silva, N.C. She worked as a checker in a grocery store.

Survivors include her husband, Allen Del Rio of Yakima; two sons, William D. Lewis of Marysville, Wash., and Lance Kendall of Tacoma; two daughters, Peggy Colvin of Gig Harbor, Wash., and Nicole Del Rio of Yakima; two stepdaughters, Joy Morvel of Tacoma and Sharon Wyllys of Eatonville, Wash.; a brother, Herman Young of Arlington; two sisters, Ettna Turner of Tennessee and Elaine Oliver of Arizona; nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Note of Joy Christian Center, 305 E. R St. in Yakima.

Mary E. Rasmusson
Mary E. Rasmusson died March 15, 2008. She was born February 20, 1921 in Harrah, WA, the fourth of 4 children of Robert W. and Gladys M. Rasmusson. She worked on the farm right alongside her father and years later still referred to herself proudly as a "farm girl." Following graduation from Wapato High School, she worked at Boeing as a sawyer and forklift driver. After the war Mary moved to Coeur d'Alene, ID and attended North Idaho College and then Eastern State College, earning her bachelors in chemistry. Employment followed as a chemist for Kaiser Aluminum at Spokane then Ravenwood, W. Virginia. Later her career focused on environmental research when she worked at the White Salmon Fish Hatchery, Batelle NW, and finally retiring from Oregon State University in Corvallis. She spent years studying effects of mercury, DDT and radioactivity on fish and wildlife.

Mary was an avid sports enthusiast-observer as well as participant in national bowling, basketball and softball leagues, traveling all over the states. After retirement, traveling became a passion, with camping, road trips, cruises and tours including all 50 states and 22 countries. She loved trips to see her relatives in Hawaii, Michigan and New Mexico. After moving to Yakima, and still loving to "get behind the wheel," she became a volunteer driver for People for People taking folks to medical appointments in Seattle. She was a devoted birdwatcher and member of the Audubon Society and for some time monitored boxes on the Wenas bluebird trail. She was a true Mariners fan and thoroughly enjoyed her trip to Seattle games.

Survivors include nieces Carol Walker, Yakima; Nancy Pace, Plymouth; Susan Harrison, Bellingham; Mary Lenseigne, Portland; and nephews John R. Bolm, Wenatchee and Donn Rasmusson, Yakima. There are also several cousins and good friends.

There will be no funeral services. Her ashes will be scattered on a warm, sunny day where the bluebirds fly.
Odessa Faye Rush
YAKIMA - Odessa Faye Rush, 86, of Zillah passed away Saturday, March 15, 2008 at Good Samaritan Health Care Center.

Faye was born June 19, 1921 in Brinkman, OK to Matt W. & Elva (Pidcock) McAden. She graduated from high school in 1940, the Valedictorian of her class. She attended Junior College for one year, then worked at an Air Base during the war.

She met Hollis "Pete" Rush while working in Ft. Worth, Texas. After he returned from the war, they were married and made their home in Amarillo, Texas. They later moved to Magnum, OK and farmed several years. After Oklahoma, they moved to Sunnyside and later to Zillah.

Faye was a charter member of the Zillah Baptist Church.

She is survived by: a son, David Paul (Marsha) Rush of Zillah; a daughter, Marilyn Kay (Bill) Ervin of Vancouver, WA; three grandchildren, Andrew Ervin, Randy Rush and Melinda Rush and one great-grandchild, Cassandra Rush. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hollis "Pete" Rush.

Viewing will be held Thursday, March 20, from noon until 5 p.m. and Friday, March 21 from 9 a.m. until noon at the Zillah Chapel of Valley Hills Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held Friday, March 21 at 2 p.m. at the Zillah Baptist Church with burial to follow in the Zillah City Cemetery. Vinita McCracken
PORTLAND, OR -- Vinita Agnes McCracken, 94, of Portland, died Saturday, March 15, 2008 in Portland.

Vinita was born Feb. 7, 1914 in Eufaula, OK to John J. and Arminie (Atterberry) Hurst. She lived in Tieton, working in the fruit warehouses until 2003 when she moved to Portland.

She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Green of Portland; a granddaughter, Suzanne M. Smith and a great-granddaughter, Sydney Isabella Smith.

A memorial service in planned for early April at the Church on the Move in Yakima.
Vivian S. Keil
Vivian S. Keil, 93, of Naches, passed away Saturday, March 15 at Parkside Nursing Care Center.

As a young woman, Mrs. Keil owned and operated a restaurant/post office/general stroe in Foretown, MN. She moved to the Yakima Valley in 2001.

She is survived by a son, Harland Davidson of Naches, 3 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

At her request, no services will be held.
Willis "Ed" Liggett
Willis “Ed” Liggett, age 96, went home to be with the Lord on March 14, 2008 at home surrounded by his family.

He was born on July 3, 1911 in Boonsboro, MO to Celeste (Rose) and George Willard Liggett. He attended schools in Fayette, MO until he began to work in the hay fields, working twelve hours a day for one dollar a day. He also worked for Rea and Guy Holly’s Furniture and Undertaking establishment, which provided ambulance and hearse services for the small town of Fayette and sold furniture as well.

In 1940 he and a friend drove to California (at 35 mph) to find work in the shipyards and airplane factories. He became a journeyman burner/welder. He was turned down for the draft because of stomach ulcers.

After becoming a Christian in 1947 he enrolled in San Jose Bible College, now William Jessup University, in Rocklin, CA to became an ordained minister in the Christian Church of Christ, receiving both BSL and BTh degrees.

He met and married Eva Wright in 1951 while attending SJBC. They served various small congregations in Wyoming and Oregon and retired from the Thorp, WA ministry in 1975. Since then he has been active in church activities and nursing home ministries in Colorado, Nevada and Washington. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, hunting and golfing with his sons and senior friends as long as he was physically able.

He read through the Bible at least once a year and memorized large portions of it. He loved the Word of God and the God of the Word. He wants to be remembered for this, and those who knew him will.

He requested that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Christian Life Center Mission Program or Yakima Regional Hospice.

He was preceded in death by his parents, all eight brothers and sisters, and by two great-grandsons. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Eva; three sons, David, Daniel and Tom; two daughters, Linda Abercrombie and Ruth Held; nineteen grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 27, 2008 at Christian Life Center in Yakima. Send condolences at www.valleyhillsfh.com.

Ruth Boyle
Ruth Boyle, 80, of Prosser died Thursday in Sunnyside.

Mrs. Boyle was born in Sunnyside. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband, George Boyle of Prosser; five sons, Doug Boyle of Thousand Palms, CA, Brock Boyle of Wichita, KS, George Boy III of Naches, Jeff Boyle of CA and Alan Boyle of Tucson, AZ; a brother, Reed L. Heath of Prosser; 13 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

A graveside memorial service will be announced at a later date.
Anna Leah Delp
YAKIMA - Anna went to be with her Lord on March 12, 2008 at Yakima Regional Hospital, surrounded by family.

Anna was born April 7, 1929 in Teledo, Missouri to Willis and Ada Hensley.

At age 15 Anna moved with her family to Zillah, Washington. Here she met

and married her husband Donald on Valentine�s Day in 1948.

Anna was a devoted wife and mother. She was employed by Stokely Van Camp and later Stadelman Fruit. Anna loved to fish, sew, and spend time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her four children, Ed Delp (Sharon) of Zillah, Curt Delp (Lynn) of Tacoma, Randy Delp (Pat) of Naches, and Sharon Eskeli (Dennis) of Grapeview, WA, four sisters, Pauline Frost of Wichita, KS, Gertrude Delp of Zillah,

Phyllis Whitmore of Yakima, and Ada White (Jack) of Zillah, ten grandchildren, and fifteen great grandchildren.

Services will be held Monday, March 17, 2008 at the Valley Hills Funeral Home Chapel in Zillah at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at the Zillah Cemetery. A reception for the family and friends of Anna will follow at the Zillah Legion Hall.

Billy W. Suggs
TOPPENISH - Billy W. Suggs, 85, from Toppenish passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, March 12, 2008. Billy was born in Caps, Texas on September 9, 1922 to John Adrien III and Effie Bell (Hallman) Suggs. His formative years were spent in Swenson, spur, Dickens and Jayton, Texas, helping with the family farms and the family owned mattress manufacturing business. During and after high school, he worked for the Mason Chevrolet gas/garage/delearship in Jayton.

During World War II, he enlisted and proudly served in the United States Army Air Corps between October 2, 1942 and May 23, 1946 and was initially assigned to Aircraft Mechanics School in Lubbock, Texas where he worked for a short time on the flight line with aircraft ground crews. Eventually, he transferred to the parachute department where his duties consisted of packing, inspecting and altering parachutes and harnesses. Between May 1945 and December 1945 he served oversees in Oran, North Africa where he was assigned to decommission warehouses.

After the war he returned to the West Texas area where he worked at miscellaneous jobs. in 1947 he followed his older sister, Jessie, and her husband, Jack, to Oregon where he began his Federal Government career with the Bureau of Indian Affairs at the Chemawa Indian School located near Salem, Oregon. There he worked on the local school farm, drove trucks and worked in the warehouse.

While in Chemawa he met the love of his life, Louisa Spalding, and they married on September 5, 1953. The couple moved to Warm Springs, Oregon where Billy continued his Bureau of Indian Affairs career working as the Property Supply Officer for the Warm Springs Indian Agency. While living in Warm Springs their first son, John S., was born.

Billy transferred to the Yakima Indian Agency in Toppenish in 1956 where he furthered his career as Property Supply Officer. While in Toppenish, his second son Phillip D., and his daughter, Debra A., were born. Billy spent the remainder of his Federal Government career in Toppenish. He retired in 1984, after over 40 years of Government service, more than 36 of those with the Bureau of Indian Affairs. Billy was very proud of his service with the Bureau of Indian Affairs and while there developed many truly special friendships with both colleagues and Tribal Members.

After retirement, Billy spent his time preforming volunteer work, working on small household projects, arts and crafts and making trips with his wife and other family members to the Oregon Coast where he enjoyed the beach, crabbing, clamming, and other outdoor activities. Billy also enjoyed attending the Scottish Highland Games in Seattle and proudly became a Senior Contributing member in 2002 and serving as a volunteer during the Treaty Days Celebration at the Heritage Cultural Center.

Billy's children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren were very important in his life and he dedicated a lot of energy ensuring their happiness. Billy will be greatly missed by his loving family and all those who knew him. He was proceeded in death by his parents, John Adrien III and Effie Bell Suggs, three sisters, Jessie Bell Kizziah, Johnnye Dell Wright and Ila Vell Hutton and one brother, Milous Suggs.

Billy is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Louisa Suggs of Toppenish, two sons, John (Vickie) of Golden, CO and Phillip (Lori) of Bonny Lake, WA, one daughter Debra (Tony) Ledin of Zillah, five grandchildren (Amanda, Anderson, Leah Ives and Axel, Karlee and Tristan Ledin) and two great grandchildren (Ocean and Ayzha Ivory).

The family would like to especially thank the nursing staff ( Steve, and Liliana) of Toppenish Community hospital, Dr. Sauerwein, and the staff of the Lower Valley Hospice for their professional and dedicated care and support during our time of need.

Funeral services will be held at the Valley Hills Funeral Home in Zillah, WA on Thursday, March 20, at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at the Zillah Cemetery. There will be a potluck dinner following burial at the Hope for the Nations Four Square Church banquet facility in Toppenish. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to either the disabled American Veterans or the Lower Valley Hospice.
Chad Michael Gonzales
Chad Michael Gonzales fought a difficult fight but was blessed when he went home with our Lord on March 12, 2008. Chad was 33 years old.

Chad was born in Sunnyside, Washington to Rocky and Shelley (Willoughby) Gonzales on March 25, 1974, but lived his whole life in Yakima in the West Valley area. He graduated from West Valley High School in 1992. Chad worked various occupations until he found that his carpentry skills served him best. He was very proud of his part in the building of the expansive ACE Hardware in Moxee.

Chad was a kind and loving person with a smile that no one could resist, and a heart that was full of love for his son, his family and his friends. He was very athletic and was an avid soccer player for thirteen years. Chad loved the outdoors, especially fishing and camping. He had numerous hobbies but his favorites were playing pool, watching movies, and barbequing with family and friends. His most recent hobby, however, had been as a pit crew member for his brother-in-law Bruce when they raced hobby stocks at the Yakima Speedway.

Chad was a loving and caring son, brother, father and uncle. He is survived by his mother Shelley Haas of Yakima; his father Rocky Gonzales of Yakima; his two sisters Melissa Benscoter and Jennifer Uecker, both of Moxee; his son Cory Webb-Gonzales of Yakima; his nephews and niece Ryan, Justin and Janae Benscoter and Seth and Corbin Franklin, all of Moxee; his uncle Alfredo Gonzales of Yakima; his aunt Alma Radke of Michigan; and by numerous cousins.

Chad is preceded in death by his beloved step-father Butch Haas; his uncles Leo Gonzales and Charles Willoughby; his aunt Georgia Miller; his cousins Bud Miller and Valerie King; and his grandparents Ralph and Irene Kenney and Lupe and Maria Gonzales.

Cheryl Ann Walker
YAKIMA - Cheryl Ann Walker, 54, of Yakima passed away Wednesday, March 12, 2008 in Yakima.

Cheryl was born Aug. 28, 1953 in Yakima to William M. and Elizabeth M. Purchase. She was raised in Selah, Parker Heights, Zillah and Toppenish, attending Buena Elementary and graduating from Toppenish High School.

She was employed for 32 years at Yakima Regional Medical and Cardiac Center as a medical technologist.

Cheryl was a member of Beta Segma Phi International, Yakima chapter, Xi Beta and the Englewood Christian Church. She taught Vacation Bible School and Sunday School and was a church elder and deaconess. She loved the outdoors and enjoyed snow skiing, golf and camping.

Survivors include two brothers, Wayne Leslie Purchase of Grandview and Robert George Purchase of San Diego, CA. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Nellie I. Butcher
Nellie I. Butcher, 101, passed away Monday, March 10, 2008 at Parkside Nursing Care Center.

Nellie was born October 24, 1906 in Michigan. She spent most of her life in Yakima raising family.

Survivors include her son, Lyle (Cheryl) Butcher of Yakima; grandchildren, Darryl (Rita) Sybouts of Moxee, Denise (Dave) Olsen, Darlene Sybouts, and Darwin (Bea) Sybouts of Naches, Dwayne (Kathy) Sybouts of Zillah, Darren (Ginelle) Sybouts of Palmer, Alaska, Debbie (Mark) Berry of Toppenish and Denny McGuire of Seattle. She is also survived by her nieces, Sylvia Ketchum of Tieton, Yvonne England of Yakima, Carla Main of Seattle, Muriel Zwicky of Spokane and Mary Dunleavy of Minneapolis, Minn.; 14 great grandchildren and numerous grand nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold, daughter, Dorothy Sybouts and son, Ray Butcher, her sister, Jetta Polls and brother, Ernie Barcklay, a grandson and two great grandsons.

Nellie was a loving woman who cared very much for her family. She lived a simple and uncomplicated life. She will be greatly missed.

The family would like to especially thank everyone who cared for her at Parkside Nursing Care while she was there. You are very special and caring people and did a great job even during the tough times. Thank you to Gracie and Faye for being such wonderful roommates. You helped make Grandma's days and nights better.

There will be no services per her request. Memorials can be made in Nellie's name at the Yakima Humane Society.
Robert B. Zapien
GRANGER - Robert B. Zapien, 64, of Granger passed away in his home surrounded by family members on Saturday, March 8, 2008. Robert was born on August 3, 1943 to Manuel and Sarah Zapien in Granger, Washington. He married Norma Phillips on September 25, 1965.

Robert enjoyed dragging at Renegade Raceway for many years. As his children grew older he loved taking them to O'Sullivan camping, boating, and fishing. He also liked attending yard sales. One of his greatest joys was watching his grandchildren play sports, especially basketball. Robert enjoyed coaching t-ball, jr. high baseball, and high school basketball also for many years.

Robert worked at Stokely Van Camp as a forklift mechanic until retiring. He then looked for a glass shop to buy. He purchased and operated D & H Glass in Toppenish for many years. After retiring he and Norma became Snowbirds and spent half of the year in Quartzsite, Arizona for about seven years before he found out he had cancer. He then fought a courageous battle with cancer before cirrhosis finally took his life.

Robert is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Norma of Granger, a son, Bobby Zapien of Granger, two daughters, Katrina (David) Reddout & Christina (Ernie Jr.) Zapien both of Granger, son-in-law, George Torrez of Zillah, three brothers, Pascual Zapien of Sumas, WA, Ray Zapien of Buena, and Jimmy Zapien of Zillah, two sisters, Virginia Abitia of Lynden, WA and Helen Godina of Buena, and 14 grandchildren. Robert was loved by numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Robert was preceded in death by one daughter, Tracy Torrez, his parents, one brother, two sisters, and one grandson.

The family would like to especially thank Seattle Cancer Center (Dr. Kauffman & Dr. Carr), North Star Cancer Center of Yakima (Dr. Jorgensen), Yakima Valley Farm Workers Clinic (Dr. Julia Ricking and her nursing staff), and Memorial Home Care Services (Sarah & Olga) for their time and extended care of Robert to the end, for that they will be always grateful.

Viewing will be at Valley Hills Funeral Home Chapel in Zillah on Thursday, March 13, 2008 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Friday, March 14, 2008 from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 15, 2008 at the Granger High School. Burial will follow at the Zillah Cemetery. There will be a potluck dinner at Granger High School after burial.

The family has entrusted Robert's funeral arrangements to Valley Hills Funeral Home of Zillah.

Edith Grimsley
Our precious mother, Grammie and Old Nana passed away peacefully during her sleep on March 9, 2008.

She was born in Arnett, OK on May 25, 1915 to Homer Allen Fletcher and Mary Gibson Fletcher.

In 1936 she married Orval William Grimsley in Nevada, MO. In the 1940's they moved to Washington, living many years in Mabton, WA and Yakima, WA.

Survivors include her daughter Sharon (Don) Sterbenz; two sons, Leon (Janice) Grimsley and Bob (Sandra) Grimsley; 10 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, 8 great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews, and her special friends Delores Bianchi and Vesta Paul.

Edith was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years; two children; one granddaughter; one great-granddaughter; her parents, and by seven brothers and sisters.

Visitation will be from 12:00 noon until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday March 12, 2008 at the Yakima Chapel of Valley Hills Funeral Home, and graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday March 13, 2008 at Grandview Cemetery. Send condolences at www.valleyhillsfh.com.
Ralph William Liebert
Ralph William Liebert, 86, died on Sunday, March 9, 2008 from complications of a stroke suffered in 2002.

Ralph was born on May 10, 1921 to Anna and Fredrick Liebert in Yakima, Washington. He graduated from Yakima High School and joined the Navy during World War II. In 1947 he married Jean Ellis, and together they raised two daughters and planted a successful orchard on Knight Hill. Jean died in 1984. In 1986 Ralph married Wylovene Lakey.

Ralph had a great sense of humor and loved his family and his orchard, especially his cherry orchard. He enjoyed dancing, family gatherings, and conversation. He attended many reunions with his shipmates from his ship the USS Gustafson, and enjoyed trips to Reno. He was a longtime member of Grace Lutheran Church in Zillah.

He is survived by his wife Wylovene Liebert; his brother Fred Liebert; his daughters Colleen Gluth and Nancy Thompson; his step-daughter Gloria Lakey; his step-son Thomas Lakey Jr.; grandchildren Andrea Loveland, Todd Gluth, Junior Gluth, Jonathan Thompson, Ellis Thompson, Anna Thompson; step-grandchildren Nicole McNeel and Timothy Lloyd Ullom; eleven great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife Jean Ellis Liebert; his parents; six brothers, Walter Liebert, Edward Liebert, Oscar Liebert, Lloyd Liebert, Alvin Liebert and Wilbert Liebert and by four sisters, Olga Martin, Esther Liebert, Bernice Wood and Mable Esko.

Gordon Irvin Webster
YAKIMA - Gordon Irvin Webster, 93, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, March 6, 2008.

Dad was born on April 14th, 1914 in Ledgerwood, North Dakota to Irvin and Ella (Rosenkranz) Webster. The family moved to the Selah area via rail car when Dad was 6 years old. He attended school in the Selah and Yakima area and graduated from Selah High School in 1932. He married Dorothy Dawson in 1938 and together they raised three children, Gary, Bette, and Ron. Dad worked in the grocery business for 45 years starting out at Hillcrest Market which was located at 36th and Summitview Avenues. He then moved on to Highland Market at 12th Ave. and Tieton Drive where he was the owner/operator for over 25 years. He met many wonderful people in the grocery business. He also worked at Prairie Market in Yakima.

After retiring Dad and Mom traveled around the Great Northwest in their travel trailer. They both enjoyed their yard and it showed.

Gordon is survived by his son Ron Webster and daughter Bette (Jim) Maginn, all of Yakima. He is also survived by Phyllis Webster of Yakima, 4 grandchildren, Kristal (Chris) George of Yakima, Carol (Todd) Pogorelc of Yakima, John (Val) Webster of Boise, Idaho and Mike Webster of Yakima, and one great grandchild Andrea Pogorelc of Yakima. Dad also has several nieces and nephews that survive him.

Dad was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy of 57 years, his parents, his son Gary, his two brothers Roland and Vernon Webster both of the Seattle area, and two sisters Nyla Kohl- McIntyre and Mildred Rennie who were both from Yakima. Dad will be greatly missed.

At the family's request there will be no services. Memorials are suggested to the Yakima Greenway.

Dallas Keith Bartlette
Dallas Keith Bartlette, 61, of Yakima died Tuesday, March 4 at Yakima Regional Medical and Cardiac Center.

Mr. Bartlette was born in Walhalla, N.D. He worked as a heavy machinery mechanic.

Survivors include two sons, Jody and Houston; two daughters, Kimberly and Amber; five brothers, Mark Bartlette, Dennis Bartlette, Roger Bartlette, Dean Bartlette and Larry Bartlette; and two sisters, May Hagen and Jean Songer.

At the family's request, there will be no services.

Valley Hills Funeral Home and Crematory, Yakima, is in charge of arrangements.

Michael L. Travis
Michael L. Travis, 55, of Kennewick died Sunday, March 2 at Kennewick General Hospital.

Mr. Travis was born in Sunnyside. He was an air controller in the military until he retired.

Survivors include his wife, Janet Travis of Kennewick; his parents, Barbara Dillard of Grandview and Benjamin Travis of Moses Lake; four sons, Benjamin Travis of Kennewick, Terran Travis of Cheney, Wash., Michael Johnson of Norfolk, Va., and Darrel Johnson of Spokane; a daughter, Janell Polnitske of Fairview Heights, Ill.; a brother, Mitch Travis of Yakima; two sisters, Michele Haselbacher of Walla Walla and Myra Mathews of Normandy Park, Wash.; and three grandchildren.

An informal gathering service will be held at the family home Saturday in Kennewick.

Arthur Bradley Fowler
TOPPENISH - Arthur Bradley Fowler, age 52, passed away on March 2, 2008 in Toppenish. He was born in Toppenish on December 10, 1955 to David J. and Natalie M. (Smith) Fowler.

Mr. Fowler attended Wapato schools and graduated from Davis High School. He attended Phoenix Institute of Technology, where he studied mechanics. He also worked as a flagger for traffic control, and served four years in the U.S. Army.

He was preceded in death by his father, David J. Fowler, and his brother, Matthew D. Fowler.

He is survived by his mother, Natalie Fowler of Yakima; his son Arthur (Erin) Fowler of Bellingham; his sisters, Angelica (Peter) Williams of Yakima, Lorinda (Murray) Bowden of Union Gap, and Davina (Clarence) Leach of Wapato; his grandchildren, Josephine, Saquoiah and Ryleigh, his former wife Cecile Warbus of Olympia, and by numerous nieces and nephews.

Viewing will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday March 8, 2008 at Gateway Old Town Assembly of God Church in Union Gap. Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. at the church, with burial to follow at West Hills Memorial Park. Send condolences at www.valleyhillsfh.com.
