Al Grenz
Alvin Adam Grenz age 82, passed away at his home in Selah on August 19, 2011.
Alvin was born in Artas, South Dakota on January 29, 1929 to Adam and Martha Grenz, the fourth of six children.

The Grenz family moved to Zillah when Al was about seven. This is where he went to school and worked as a young man.

He served in the army during the Korean War, returning to Zillah in 1951. In the l950’s he worked for UniGas , in Yakima and Sunnyside. In 1957 he married Geraldine Wilbur. This union produced to sons, Russell Grenz in 1962 and Randall in 1965. In 1962, he started his own propane delivery business, Yakima Valley Propane. Alvin delivered propane from Prosser to Ellensburg for ten years. He sold the business in 1972. He purchased a small acreage in Selah that year. The next twenty years he worked for Mueller Hop Processing, retiring in 1992 on his place in Selah.

Alvin is survived by his son Russell (Joanne) Grenz and two grandchildren Michelle and Jonathan, his son Randall (Laurie) Grenz and grandchildren Joshua and Jesi Grenz, John Bussey, Michelle Roads, Melissa Wasley, and Crystal Inama. A great granddaughter Alexis Grenz and 5 step great grandchildren. His brothers Harold (Betty), and Larry Grenz of Zillah, His Sisters Ella VanCorbach of East Wenatchee, and Marlene (Harold) McCloud of Zillah, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Olivia Barr, sister-in-law Ina Grenz, and Brother-in-law John VanCorbach.

Funeral Services will be held 10:00 A.M. Saturday, August 27 at Valley Hills Funeral Home 607 2nd Ave, Zillah, Wa. Burial will follow with Military Honors at Zillah City Cemetery. A Potluck to follow at Zillah Civic Center. Valley Hills Funeral Home in Zillah is in care of the arrangements. Online condolences can be left at www.valleyhillsfh.com

Hi guys, I just want to say i'm so sorry. I loved Al like a grandpa, to me he was my grandpa. I may not make it tomorrow and im truely sorry (issues that i dont want to bring there). I love all of you and am really sorry. I will always remeber him and he will be in my heart forever.
