YAKIMA - Francis R. Best, 85, of Yakima passed away on August 31, 2007 at Memorial Hospital.
Francis, also known as "King" and "Frank", was born November 22, 1921 in Harrah, Washington during one of the Yakima Valley's worst winters to John and Augusta Best.
We enjoyed listening to Francis' stories about growing up and living in the Valley, as well as his experiences as a college professor. He graduated from Wapato High School in 1941.
Francis served during World War II (1941-45) as a PFC in the United States Marine Corps Expeditionary Force on the islands of Tarawa, Guadalcanal and Saipan.
In April of 2003, Francis was awarded the Epsilon Pi Tau Distinguished Service Citation from the Board of Directors of The International Honorary or Professions in Technology. This recognized his dedicated performance over 26 years as Assistant Professor, Department of Design and Industry, San Francisco State University, 6 years as vocational instructor for the Territory College of Guam, Department of Education, George Washington High School; and impressive application of scholarship in curriculum development and consulting. He developed laboratory-based programs in History of Technology, Power and Transportation, Power and Energy, as well as others in addition to national and international consulting as a vocational specialist in power and technology.
His is survived by his wife, Evangeline Best; his sisters, Mary Carina Hillyer of Alameda, Calif. and Marcia Raue of Walnut Creek, Calif.; two sons, Brett Best of San Leandro, Calif. and Bart Best of San Francisco, Calif., four grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Richard Turner Rollin, 40, of Yakima died Thursday, August 30, 2007.
Mr. Rollin was born in Kalispell, Mont. He was a carpenter and had been employed with F&M Construction.
Survivors include his wife, Caryn Rollin of Yakima; a son, Erik Rollin of Yakima; a daughter, Tonya Rollin of Yakima; father and stepmother, Michael and Maria Rollin of San Antonio; three brothers, Michael Rollin of San Antonio, Mark Thomason-Powell of Monroe, Wash., and Daniel Thomason of Klamath Falls, Ore.
A private family service will be held.

Darwin Leon Garton Sr., 59, of Yakima died Wednesday, August 29, 2007.
Mr. Garton was born in Yakima. He lived in Yakima and the Wapato area. He served in the Army. He worked for Burrows Tractor Co. and Snokist Growers.
Survivors include his wife, Amy June Garton of Yakima; four children, Lori Tudor of Spokane, Darwin Leon Garton Jr., DeWayne Garton and Jennifer Garton, all of Yakima; two brothers, Bobby Garton and Danny Garton, both of Selah; his father, Wesley Garton of Yakima; and 15 grandchildren.
A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, September 4 at West Hills Cemetery.

SELAH - Our beautiful Kristine (Tina) Turck, left to be with her Lord on August 29, 2007 in the early morning hours, safely and peacefully in the arms of her husband Gregg and her mother Patti at her home in Selah, Washington. She was also surrounded by her beautiful labradors, Lucy, Max, Betty and Jack.
She fought a hard four year battle with Inflammatory Breast cancer, and fought it to the end.
Her beloved family at First American Title were always there for her through both her bad and good days. No group of individuals were more devoted to her, as she was to them.
Tina was the proverbial caregiver, always wanting to help when someone was in need; and in her special way, she would be there, trying to make life easier for those around her. And even at the end, she was still trying to be there for her friends.
Tina was born December 8th, 1965 in Renton, Washington to Bruce Holtzner and Patti Holtzner Bradfield. She is survived by her husband Gregg Turck, mother Patti Bradfield (Brian Bradfield), father Bruce Holtzner, brother Kurt Holtzner: father and mother in law Dr. Marvin and Rahla Turck. Her friend and sister-in-law Lori Zybtek and her beloved nieces, Tierra, Jeanie and Kaila; sister-in-law Laura, nephew Joshua, nieces Alexa and Jordyn, brother-in-law Stuart and Andrew Turck.
Beloved grandniece of Leslie (Ruth) Skogman.

Leona Thalheimer

Leona Thalheimer was born on October 21, 1918 to Felix and F. Gertie Robert at the home ranch in Grey Cliff, Montana. When Leona was five years old her father and his brother, Andre, who was his partner, sold the sheep ranch and they came to Toppenish, where her father started open farming. Leona went to McKinley, Garfield, and Toppenish High School, and graduated in 1936. On October 24, 1938 she and John were married.
Leona loved playing golf through the years. She was a member of Mt. Adams Golf Club where she won many championships. She was a member for over 50 years. Leona also looked forward weekly to playing the organ at mass at the St. Aloysius Parish in Toppenish.
She leaves her husband of over 69 years, John Thalheimer; one son, Bob and his wife Binki of Prescott, AZ; granddaughter Jodi Thalheimer of Phoenix, AZ and grandson Beau Thalheimer of Scottsdale, AZ; sister Louise Kelson of OR; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, her half sister, and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 10:00 until 6:00 with Recitation of the Rosary to follow at 6:00 at Valley Hills Funeral Home in Zillah. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 30, 2007 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Toppenish, with burial to follow at Zillah City Cemetery. Simone C. Voeller, 95, of Yakima died Thursday, Aug. 23 at Garden Village.
Mrs. Voeller was born in Jemeppe, Belgium, and came to the United States from Belgium, settling in Pennsylvania. She moved to La Grande, Ore., five years later as a teenager, and then moved to Aberdeen, Wash. In April, she moved to Yakima. She had worked as a telephone operator and sales clerk.
Survivors include three daughters, Vickie Wright of Yakima, Pat Calchina of Madison, Wis., and Jo Linker of Aberdeen; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Memorial services are pending in Aberdeen.

ZILLAH - Juanita passed peacefully at home on August 20th. She was born in American Falls, Idaho to Joseph H. and Irene Weech on October 9, 1916. She was an Eagles member over 50 years, a member of Good Sam Club for a number of years and belonged to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (Mormon).
She is survived by her sons, Richard B. Garn and Teddy M. Garn and their spouses; 7 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Burke R. Garn after 52 years of Marriage and her daughter Bonnie Jane Borland.
She will be surely missed by her famiy and friends who will remember her and love her always. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 27, 2007 at 11:00 at the Toppenish Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Following services Juanita will be laid to rest in the Zillah Cemetery.

Valeria Judith Barrios, in fant daughter of Juana Paatricia maruez and Octavio Barrios was born and died Saturday, August 18, 2007 in Sunnyside.
She is survived by her parents of Sunnyside, a brother Louis Padilla and a sister, Eveth Padilla, both of Sunnyside.

Ethel M. O'Donahue, 74, of Grandview died Thursday, August 16 in Grandview.
She was born in Brush, Colo.
Survivors include her husband, Thomas O'Donahue; four daughters, Janel Emede of Los Angeles, LaDonna Standlee of Bellevue, Wash., Debbie Parker of Yakima and LeaAnn Westbrook of Ellensburg; a sister, Aletta Fortune of Prosser; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Gene Steven Szoka, 62 of Warden passed away Tuesday, August 14 at Yakima Regional Medical Center.
Gene was born May 6, 1945 in Auburn, WA to Al and Joyce (Patterson) Szoka.
Gene served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam Era. He worked as a fireman for Boeing for 31 years and in the badge office of Boeing for seven years. He retired to Warden in 2005.
Survivors include his wife, Gayle Szoka of Warden; his mother, Joyce Szoka of Pacific, WA; a son, Jonathan (Barbara) Davis of Warden; a daughter, Jennifer (Josh) Utley of Everett; two brothers, Steve (Gren) Szoka of Tacoma and Bill Szoka of Seattle; two sisters, Lil (Dave) Heutmaker of Buckley, WA and Liz (Warren) Samson of Yelm, WA; and two grandchildren, John Jr. and Kiley. He was preceded in death by his fahter, Al Szoka.

YAKIMA - Tommie Hamett, age 79, passed away on August 14, 2007 at Yakima Regional Medical Center.
She was born in Holdenville, Oklahoma on March 1, 1928 to Sylvia Edith and Arthur Lucas.
She was the owner and operator of her own business, The Silver Thimble, where she worked as a seamstress. She also worked through the years in packing houses, at the Holiday Inn as a housekeeper, and in farms and ranches in Washington and California. She worked in many restaurants, and she met her husband in one of them.
With Tommie it was all about people. She was the most loving and caring person. She could not give or do enough for the people she loved, and most importantly, she was the same way with people she didn't even know. If Tommie knew someone needed anything, she always showed up with something good to eat or a helping hand.
In Tommie's last few years she lived at the Mabel Swan Apartments in Yakima. Right before she left Mabel Swan to go live at the Sun Towers Apartments she put a big pot of stew on her walker and went around to the different rooms and gave the apartments fresh hot stew.
Tommie was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt. She loved her entire family very much; the ones who lived near her and those who lived far away. Her life revolved around her family and friends.
Tommie was always game to go and do anything anyone wanted to do. She loved having people over and she loved to go visiting. She loved life and was always jolly, happy, and bubbly. Because of her positive outlook on life, Tommie had a smile and a kiss for all.
Tommie loved God and His son. She always prayed for the people she loved. She always talked about her love for the Lord and His love for her.
Tommie, we love you and will miss you forever.
She is survived by her son Don Hamett of Tieton; daughters Pauline Holloway of Selah and Judy Sarkis of Stanwood; her daughter-in-law Virgilena Buchanan of Yakima; her sister Judy Woodward of Oklahoma City, OK and her brother Bill Lucas of Holdenville, OK; and by six grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her siblings, Pete, Frank, Walt, Slim, Hop, Burel, Sis, Rosie and Bessie.
Visitation will be held on Thursday from 2:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Valley Hills Funeral Home in Yakima, and funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, August 17, 2007 also at the Yakima Chapel of Valley Hills Funeral Home, with burial to follow at Terrace Heights Memorial Park, with a gathering to follow at Church of Christ in Gleed.

Ola Maria Hunt, 82, of Yakima passed away Tuesday, August 14 at her daughter's home in Wenatchee.
Ola was born December 7, 1924 in Melbourne, Arkansas. She worked at Boeing in Seattle as a welder during World War II. She later worked in restaurants and nursing homes for several years in the Wenatchee and Seattle areas. She moved to Yakima in 2006.
Survivors include three daughters, Margaret Hunt and Betty Longmire, both of Yakima, and Joan Jackson of Wenatchee; a sister, June Reed of Ellensburg; 8 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
At her request, there will be no services.

Liliana Analise Hernandez, infant daughter of Danny Perales and Michelle Marie Hernandez of Sunnyside, was born and died Sunday, August 12 in Seattle.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by a sister, Christina Marie Garcia; three brothers, Michael Issiah Garcia, Jacob Jaride Perales and Danny Perales, Jr.; and grandparents, Edward & Irma Hernancez and Felipe & Olivia Perales, Jr., all of Sunnyside.

YAKIMA - Billy Jo Stensen Zerr, age 75, passed away on August 10, 2007 in Yakima.
She was born on December 17, 1931 in Yakima to Janet A. and Joe W. Stensen. She graduated from Moxee High School in 1951 and attended Business College in Tacoma to be a bookkeeper. She worked at Weisefields, McBeth Furniture, Morton's Supply and S & S Auto Body. She married Steve Embry and had one daughter, Jan Mercer, and then married Harlan Zerr and had three children, Kelly Zerr, Stacy Cooper and Hayley Stensen. She loved playing pool, sun tanning, reading, watching baseball, and dancing, swimming, golfing and bowling.
We would like to thank North Star and Dr. Von Stubbe for all their care and support. Thanks to Yakima Regional Hospice and JoAnn, you're the best. Thanks to all her friends that gave us so much support; mom loved you all.
She is survived by her mother, Janet Reed of Yakima; her son Kelly (Connie) Zerr of Yakima; her daughters Jan (Terry) Embry-Mercer and Stacy (Pat) Cooper, both of Yakima and Hayley (Shell) Stensen of Moxee, and by seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and a lot of family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Joe W. Stensen, her first husband, Steve Embry, and by her second husband, Harlan Zerr.

Kathleen I. McPherson, a long-time Selah resident, passed away on August 9, 2007.
She was born Kathleen Isabel to George and Ida Terrien on December 7, 1921 in Dalkena, Washington. Her family moved to Grayland, Washington, where she spent her early years. She eventually moved to Yakima where her Aunt, Alvina Happy, resided and attended St. Joseph’s Academy and St. Elizabeth’s Hospital School of Nursing, graduating in 1941.
She married Montie Burl McPherson in 1942, just prior to his serving in Europe in World War II. After the war ended, they made their home and raised their 5 children in Selah, where they were active in the VFW, Wenas Valley Grange, Yakima County Sheriff’s Posse and Posse-ettes, and where she was a 4-H leader and was very active with the American Legion Auxiliary Post #379. She was a nurse for over 25 years with Ralph Hill, D.M.D. until her retirement.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Burl (M.B.) in 1975, and her sister and brothers Beth Jester, Bob, Pat and Dick Terrien.
She is survived by her children Montie (Vera) Burl, Jr., Ronald (Faye) Dean, Susan (Ron) Wangler, Becky (Rob) Jaderlund), Cynthia (Rick) Kirwan; grandchildren Montie III, Katie, Kari, Tally, Sherra, Scottie, Jamie, Dusty, Heather and Ricky; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandson; and by numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, August 13, 2007 at Tahoma Cemetery. The past 13 years she has resided at Selah Convalescent, which has given her a loving home. Harley John Berger, age 61, passed away on August 7, 2007 in Yakima. He was born in Bremerton on October 19, 1945 to John and Maxine (Wilhelm) Berger.
He was one of the best mechanics in town. He had been employed as a service manager at Sunfair Chevrolet and Hertz Car Sales and as a mechanic at Valley Ford and Valley Toyota, and was last employed at Hahn Motors.
He loved fishing for steelhead and salmon and loved animals and music, in particular the piano, guitar and keyboard. He liked to joke around and was a big tease. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and brother.
He is survived by his wife Sandra Berger; his son Tracy (Renee) Berger and his sister Janis (Hal) Stacy, all of Yakima, and by his granddaughter Courtney Berger.
He went home to be with his new found Savior, Jesus Christ.

ZILLAH - Biscente Nunez Sr., known to many as "el Borrado", peacefully left us to be with his Heavenly Father on August 8, 2007. He was born on April 5, 1934 in Rivera, Texas to Antonio Sr. and Barbarita Nunez.
Biscente was preceded in death by his parents, Barbarita and Antonio Nunez Sr.; sisters, Dominga Escobar, Julia Saenz, and Elvoria Trevino; sons, Biscente Nunez Jr. and Juan"Johnny" Jose Nunez, and two nephews, Saul Nunez and Raul Trevino.
He is survived by his wife, Esther Nunez; son, Ernesto Nunez; four daughters, Diana Alegria, Maria Elena (Helen) Garcia, all of Zillah, WA, Virginia Ornelas of Granger and Sadia Chavez of Kirkland, WA; brothers, Antonio Nunez Jr. of Seattle and Marin Nunez of Zillah; sister, Maria Cantu of Ontario, OR; twenty grandchildren and thirty three great grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the Hospice nurses, Kathy, Pam, and Cheryl for all the help provided for Biscente and a special thanks to Maria Uriostequi for all the love, care and devotion that she gave him and his entire family.
Viewing will be held from 10-7 pm on Thursday August 9, 2007 with recitation of the rosary at 7 pm at Valley Hills Funeral Home in Zillah.

Julie Ann Young, 48, of Yakima died Wednesday, August 8.
Mrs. Young was born in Yakima. She had been employed as a machine operator for an international wood company and was also a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, Derwin Young; a son, Richard Thompson; two daughters, Tabitha Niel and Barbara Young; three brothers, Richard Thompson, Tim Thompson and John Thompson, all of Yakima; and six grandchildren.

Steve James Lark, 63, of Yakima died Monday, August 6.
Mr. Lark was born in Marshall, Ark. He came to the Yakima Valley in 1967 and worked on local farms until he became disabled.
Survivors include a son, Jim Lark of Texas; four daughters, Debra Drady of Tieton, Victoria Bookout of Puyallup, Wash., Amanda Lark and Brianna Lark, both of Port Orchard, Wash.; four brothers, Donald Guthrie and Ronald Guthrie, both of Yakima, Lloyd Guthrie and Rick Guthrie, both of Everett, Wash.; a sister, Faye Burrow of Yakima; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Phillip Huston Godkin, 68, of Yakima died Saturday, August 4 at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Godkin was born in Tulsa, Okla. He served in the Marine Corps in Vietnam. He worked as an executive chef in many areas, including Yakima, for the last 40 years.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Godkin of Yakima; two sons, Terry Godkin of Wenatchee and Pat Godkin of Washington, D.C.; two daughters, Sandi Gonzalez of Casa Grande, Ariz., and Rhonda Shepley of Prairie Grove, Ark.; four stepchildren, Mike Simmons and Craig Simmons, both of Portland, and Sharon Doornink and Deniece Pfief, both of Yakima; two brothers, Charles Godkin of Reno, Nev., and Walter Godkin of Alaska; a sister, Norene McVoy of Columbia Falls, Mont.; 25 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church, 2706 Second St. in Union Gap.

Antonio Gonzalez Ramirez, 90, of Zillah died Sunday, August 5 in Yakima.
Mr. Gonzalez was born in Michoacan, Mexico. He worked as a farm laborer in the Valley.
Survivors include his wife, Maria D. Gonzalez of Zillah; three sons, Guadalupe Gonzalez of Zillah, Leo Gonzalez of Sunnyside and Antonio Gonzalez Jr. of Jalisco, Mexico; and two daughters, Socorro Cortes and Maria Jesus Billadares, both of Florida.
Recitation of the rosary will be at 6 p.m. today at Valley Hills Funeral Home in Zillah. Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Resurrection Catholic Church in Zillah.

ZILLAH - Charles Adrian Garrison, 85, of Zillah, WA went to be with his Lord and the family and friends that have gone before him, on Aug. 3, 2007.
Charles was born on June 8th, 1922 in Laurel, Nebraska to Charles and Disey Garrison. They came to the Yakima Valley in late 1936. He attended Granger High School but graduated from Zillah High School in 1941. He entered the Navy in 1942 and was assigned to LST 459 as a pharmacist's mate doing duty in the south Pacific. While stationed in Australia he met and married Gladys Roberts in 1944. They had a baby girl, Charlene and he brought both of them to the states in late 1945. They settled in Zillah where he owned and operated his own trucking service. In 1951 he went to work for the United States Postal Service as a rural route carrier. He retired from there in 1979 after 28 years of work. He was later remarried to Earlene Justice and they had a baby girl, Earla in 1961.
In 1966 he met and married Dorla Fann and they eventually moved into Maranatha Mobile Home Park. After years of helping all the neighbors in the park, Curt Walker appointed him "Mr. MOM" (Mayor of Maranatha). He was presented with a plaque stating this and Charles was very proud of it. He was also one of the first Civil Service Commissioners for Zillah.
Those who knew Charles will never forget him for he always had a smile on his face and a good word for all. He will surely be missed.
He is survived by his daughters Charlene (& Dub) Holland of Zillah, Earla (& Doug) Gaylor of Port Orchard, 3 step-daughters, Edeen (& Dale) Baker of Yakima, Charlene Kinney (& Ed Day) of Yakima, Lynn (& Chuck) Kelly of Zillah, and step-son R.J. (& Roberta) Fann of Yakima. Also by special friend, Betty Comber, 31 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, a sister Lorraine, wife Dorla, a step-daughter Loreen and a step-grandson, Ryan, and very dear friend Dan Simmons.

DELRAY BEACH, FL - Merril Sullivan, 85, of Zillah died Friday in Delray Beach, Fla.
He was born in Salem, Mo., and was a lifelong resident of the Valley. He worked as an appliance repairman and in the orchards. He served in World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Adele Sullivan of Delray Beach; two sons, Patrick Sullivan of Panama City, Fla., and Lynn Rogers of Sherwood, Ore.; two daughters, Linda Sullivan Kauer of Yakima and Bonnie Rogers Ross of Delray Beach; two sisters, Geraldine Chandler of Zillah and Shirley Wilson of Gig Harbor, Wash.; 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Valley Hills Funeral Home in Zillah. The funeral will be at 9:00 a.m. Thursday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Toppenish. Interment will follow in the Zillah Cemetery.

Harriet O'Brien

Harriet O'Brien, long-time resident of the Yakima Valley, passed away August 2nd at her home. Harriet was born in Fortuna, North Dakota, the second of four children to Harlan and Beatrice Macomber. She came to the Yakima Valley with her family in l936. She married William J. "Pat" O'Brien, who preceded her in death in l967. In her early years living in Toppenish, Harriet worked for the J.C. Penney Company, and later was the office manager at the Ford dealership there, receiving many performance awards for her outstanding bookkeeping skills. After her professional retirement, she continued to work another 20 years in the fruit-packing industry in Zillah for fun and friendship. She is survived by her two daughters, Kathleen O'Brien and Beatrice Ferguson (Charles), sister Ruth Juvinall (Gil), seven grandchildren, six great grandchildren, the youngest born August 6, 2007, in addition to numerous nieces and nephews. Harriet was an active member of several pinochle and card groups, cultivating many friendships with her fellow members. She was a gifted seamstress/tailor, as well as an avid crocheter and knitter, creating many items for her friends and family. Harriet was a wonderful cook, always willing to share her recipes with loved ones when asked. Harriet loved to travel, and was able to travel extensively throughout her life, always with her family members beside her. Graveside services will be conducted August 10th at l:00 p.m. at Elmwood Cemetery in Toppenish; the family requests that memorials be made to Selah Convalescent Activities Department, or the charity of your choice. Harriet's family would like to convey a special "thank you" to the staff of Regional Home Health & Hospice for their care and support, most especially Peggy Coble, RN, of the Regional Hospice team; God bless you.

Jamie Lorene Jessen, 43, of Yakima died Wednesday, August 1.
Mrs. Jessen was born in Cody, Wyo. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, Dale Frisk of Yakima; and a sister, Dawn Groshong of Everett, Wash.
Memorial services will be Sunday at noon at the Yakima Chapel of Valley Hills Funeral Home.

Lavina Ellen (Cyr) Ash, a long-time resident of Yakima, became ill and passed away at her home on July 27, 2007 at the age of 74.
Lavina was born on February 16, 1933 to William and Margaret Cyr. She attended Yakima High School and in 1956 married William Ash, raising two children, Debra and Kris. She retired after working more than 20 years at Selah School. She enjoyed working in her yard planting flowers, and loved all auto racing!
Lavina is survived by her two children Debra Sides (Ash) and Kris Ash; two brothers, Robert (Susie) and Kenneth (Kay) Cyr; grandchildren Randy (Heather) Sides, Kandy Sides, Steven, Sherry, Kevin and Krystal Ash; great-grandchildren Garrett and Evan Sides and Ryker Sides; and a great-great grandchild, Alexis McCoy; and two special friends, Jerry and Lendie Nichols, all of Yakima.
Memorial services will be held at 10:00 on Saturday, August 11, 2007 at the Yakima Chapel of Valley Hills Funeral Home.

Howard Edward Rescorla Jr., 68, of Toppenish died Tuesday, July 31 in Yakima.
Mr. Rescorla was born in Miscieta, Colo., and served in the Navy. He worked as a mechanic for Green Acres Farm in Harrah, and then worked at Evergreen Machine and Fabrication in Yakima.
Survivors include his wife, Sandra Rescorla; a son, Howard Rescorla III of Toppenish; a stepson, Robert McDowell of Toppenish; two daughters, Twyla Peterson of Yakima and Misty Gonzalez of Lynnwood, Wash.; two stepdaughters, April Ross of Zillah and Angela Culley of Yakima; two brothers, Larry Rescorla of Coos Bay, Ore., and James Rescorla of Toppenish; two sisters, Netty Browning of Goldendale and Joan Schneider of Zillah; and 13 grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at the Toppenish Eagles.
Valley Hills Funeral Home and Crematory, Yakima, is in charge of arrangements.
